These are a Few of My Favorite Things

Just in time for Mother's Day

I used to say I was a pretty low maintenance girl, I rarely wear makeup, I spend most of my time in gym clothes, and I prefer a date night curled up on the couch opposed to going out. But when I was compiling a list of my favorite things, I realized quickly that my low maintenance lifestyle had a few pricey things on it. They're worth every penny, I promise you!

Let me preface this by saying my dear husband does an excellent job of spoiling me rotten ear-round. He buys great gifts, gets me what I want, and doesn't bat an eye about cost. He can't keep a secret, so I frequently get the gifts when they arrive in the mail, not when the calendar says I should.

But sometimes, a list helps. And while this list is a mix of things I want and things I already have, it may lend towards some ideas for others when shopping for Mother's Day, birthdays, etc.

Sword & Plough Tote

I've wanted this tote bag from Sword & Plough for quite a while. After months of drooling over it, I met the two fabulous women behind it at the Military Influencers Conference in Dallas, TX last year. And that's when I decided. Thanks to my wonderful family, it was under the tree on Christmas morning. I've used it ever since. It's been my gym bag, my diaper bag, and my "I've got a meeting, work appointment, and kids to drag about" bag. The zip top is crucial for me, as I toss it around in the van and nothing has fallen out yet! I love it so much, I've added another S&P bag to my wish list. (Bonus! I've got a discount code for you, just ask me about it!)

Here's one of those things that makes me feel silly for claiming to be low maintenance. I tell you, these are the most expensive shoes I've ever purchased, and they are the most comfortable. They cushion my flat feet perfectly, and when I take them off I still feel like I'm walking on air. Customer service is amazing and helps you find the perfect fit each time. I got the Classic Black pair and I'm trying to decide between the Taupe and the Feather Grey for my neutral color.

Travel Coffee Mug

I've been trying to eliminate plastic from our daily lives, especially when it comes to hot liquids, reheating and food storage. I also like to minimize the amount of trash and recycling we put on the curb each week. So in my quest for a travel mug I had a few requirements. I really wanted stainless steel and it must not spill. Ever. I solicited the advice of fellow coffee-loving mothers and decided to try the Contigo Auto Seal. I'm now set and encourage you to grab a few as well.

Hope Design Jewelry

Well, you know I'm a sucker for supporting a military spouse, right? Keep reading, please. The Hope Design LTD line of handmade, historically crafted jewelry deserves your attention! Lauren Hope, a military spouse, mother, and former chef designs these pieces with the goal of entwining military history with the beauty of today. I've been eyeing several of these designs but haven't made a decision yet. I think I should make a list. I'll start with this bracelet and these earrings. She also designs some great gifts for graduates, retirements, and even the men in our lives.

Instant Pot

If you've known me for more than five minutes, you know that I love my Instant Pot. I never thought I would, but I really do. It saves me time, money, and aggravation. I have the 6-in-1 6qt and it does everything except make yogurt, which I have no time for anyway. If you are a family of 5 or bigger, I recommend the 8qt for sure. If I get another one, it will be the 8qt. I make soups, frozen chicken, hard boil eggs, one-pot pasta meals, and so much more in it. I have some great accessories to make things a little easier, but you don't need all that. Watch to see if it's on sale soon, and snag one!

There are so many favorite things in my life, but these are at the top at this season. I'm a pretty lucky girl, no doubt about it. And I know some of these things may seem extravagant, but its ok to be spoiled!

To My Fellow Military Spouses: Thank You, for Ever...
