Clothes are the bane of my existence. From what to wear to how to find it. And, of course, the never-ending piles of laundry. Oh, the laundry! If I had my way, I’d be wearing gym clothes all day, every day. But sadly, I can’t.
My first spring and summer in Georgia had me scrambling for the right clothing to wear, balancing the casual things I did outside of the house and the humidity and unpredictability of the weather. I decided shopping was in order. I’m not sure I mentioned this, but I hate shopping. Even more than I despise laundry.
So, like any self-respecting, shopping-hating, busy mother of three, I went directly to Amazon. I bought three sundresses and called it a day. When they arrived two days later, I tried them on, decided I liked them and was done, right? Kind of. I needed a few more pieces to have an actual wardrobe, but I was on my way.
With unpredictable weather – and the way some places run their air conditioning – a cardigan is an absolute necessity. I would argue you need a few! But I like this one, it’s not too bulky or heavy and it comes in a few colors.
As I mentioned, I bought a few sundresses last year, and I rediscovered one from my closet. These flowy, flattering dresses have served me for many an occasion. From a night out to a military function during the day, these dresses can be worn year-round. And, if you find you like one more than another, you can buy it in multiple colors! My favorite was this one.
Jeans are annoying, I mean, the material of them is annoying. They don’t breathe well either, so when the humidity starts in Georgia, I never want to see them again. Even if they are capris or shorts. No thanks. So,
The shoes complete the look, right? I’m a flip flop girl for sure, but there are times they aren’t quite formal enough. And my multiple pairs of sneakers just won’t work either. So a few years ago I invested – yes, invested – in a pair of Tieks. I absolutely love them an am strongly considering a second pair in a bolder color. But until then, I wear my trusty black Tieks almost everywhere.
I’m nowhere near a fashion expert. I can’t manage to do a minimalist closet, despite wearing the same things most of the time. I keep clothes that don’t fit me and may never. I have work clothes I may never wear again (yay for not working in an office!) and I have more gym clothes than I’ll ever need. But, I have enough comfortable and cute clothing to make it through a week of out-of-the-house activities, and that’s a win!
